President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Antigua and Barbuda to participate in the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), convened by King Charles III.
The biennial summit brings together Heads of Government, ministers, business leaders, civil society organisations and youth representatives from across the Commonwealth to discuss shared priorities and strengthen cooperation among member states.
This year’s meeting, which marks President Mahama’s first CHOGM participation since his re-election in December 2024, is being held under the theme: Accelerating Partnerships and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth.
The theme highlights the need to deepen international partnerships, mobilise investment and promote sustainable economic growth to advance shared prosperity across Commonwealth member countries.
During the summit, President Mahama is expected to engage fellow Commonwealth leaders on key issues, including trade, investment, economic cooperation and sustainable development.
He is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with selected Heads of State and Government as part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s diplomatic and economic relations during his two-day visit to St. John’s, the capital of Antigua and Barbuda.
The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting provides an important platform for member states to address pressing global and regional challenges, strengthen diplomatic ties and advance collective action towards a more prosperous and sustainable Commonwealth.
