An aspirant for the Ashanti Regional Organiser position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Patrick Opoku Fofie, has pledged to prioritize the welfare of the party’s grassroots if given the nod.
According to him, grassroots members of the party in the Ashanti Region have been neglected despite their sacrifices and hard work that contributed to the party’s electoral victory.
He noted that many grassroots supporters continue to face challenges relating to lack of opportunities and inclusivity in the party’s internal affairs.
Mr. Opoku Fofie made the remarks shortly after filing his nomination forms at the NDC’s Ashanti Regional Office in Kumasi on Wednesday.
He explained that his decision to contest the Ashanti Regional Organiser position is driven by a desire to unite the grassroots and re-organize the party’s structures from the base to make it stronger ahead of the 2028 general elections.
He stressed that empowering grassroots members and ensuring their participation in decision-making processes would be crucial to improving the NDC’s electoral fortunes in the Ashanti Region, which is traditionally seen as a stronghold of the NPP.
He has therefore appealed to delegates to vote massively for him to bring inclusive and energetic leadership to the Organiser portfolio.
