In a commendable show of support for education and youth development, the Member of Parliament for the Salaga South Constituency, Hon. Hajia Zuwera Ibrahimah, has donated a brand-new, US-manufactured sound system to Salaga Senior High School.
The donation, which took place during a brief but colourful ceremony at the school’s dining hall, is aimed at enhancing the school’s capacity to conduct public events, academic presentations, and extracurricular activities effectively. The sound system includes high-quality speakers, microphones, amplifiers, and related accessories, all manufactured in the United States to ensure durability and top-notch performance.
Speaking at the presentation, Hon. Hajia Zuwera noted that education remains a top priority on her agenda for the constituency. She emphasized the importance of equipping schools with modern tools and resources to support learning, student engagement, and administrative communication.
“I believe strongly in the power of education to transform lives. This sound system is a small but meaningful contribution to support Salaga SHS in its efforts to improve the student experience and promote excellence,” she stated.
The MP seized the opportunity to extend her best wishes to all final-year students currently writing their WASSCE examinations. She encouraged the students to consider pursuing courses in Science, ICT, and Mathematics at the tertiary level.
Hon. Hajia Zuwera also officially informed the students about her decision to construct a mechanised borehole for the school through the support of an NGO. She indicated that the borehole project would be completed very soon, Insha Allah, to reduce the stress students go through in accessing potable drinking water.
The Assistant Headmaster in charge of Academics, Mr. Alhaji Ibrahim Mumuni, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the MP on behalf of the staff and students. He said the equipment would go a long way in addressing the school’s long-standing challenge of inadequate sound infrastructure for school gatherings and programs.
This donation adds to the growing list of interventions made by Hon. Hajia Zuwera to the school, including:
* The donation of 120 mono desks to address the furniture deficit,
* Ten sewing machines to the Home Economics Department to enhance effective teaching and learning,
* Streetlights to improve security on campus,
Sponsorship of water supply during the dry season, among others.
These interventions by the MP further reinforce her commitment to uplifting the standard of learning and development in Salaga South.
The School Girls’ Prefect, Madam Karimu Halida, also took turns to thank the MP on behalf of her fellow students, describing the gesture as timely and thoughtful. She pledged, along with her peers, to use the equipment responsibly and maintain it well.
The event was attended by the East Gonja Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Kassim Yazid Rabiu, NDC Constituency Executives led by the Chairman, Mr. Haruna Abdul Aziz, school authorities, and staff from the Office of the Member of Parliament.
