*Ghana’s Water Sector Sees Significant Progress*

Ghana is making notable strides in its water and sanitation sector. At the 2026 AU Theme of the Year on Water and Sanitation event, Minister Hon. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei highlighted key achievements, including 89.9% access to basic water services and 42.9% safely managed water coverage.

Notable initiatives include a collaboration with Denmark and UNICEF to provide safe drinking water to 100,000 people in low-income urban areas, and World Vision Ghana’s WASH Business Plan targeting over 700,000 people with safe water, 343,000 with improved sanitation, and 535,000 with hygiene services.

Ghana is committed to integrating the Africa Water Vision 2063 into national strategies, aiming for water security and dignity for all citizens.
