APPEAL FOR CLARIFICATION ON THE NUMEROUS STATEMENTS MADE BY YOU, HON PHILIP BASOAH, MP FOR KUMAWU CONSTITUENCY, ABOUT THE STATE OF KUMAWU ROADS.

The Concern Youth of Sekyere Kumawu, would like to respectfully seek for clarification on the numerous statements made by you, Hon Philip Basoah, about the state of Sekyere Kumawu roads.

Our group have in possession, both audio-visual recordings of you, where you made an emphatic statement about the restless efforts you have made in capacity as an Mp for Kumawu, in order for our
roads to get a facelift, as expected by all constituents of Sekyere Kumawu.

To cement our points with details of the said statements from your end, as an Mp for Kumawu constituency, our group have observed that:

1. On the 3rd of December, 2020, few days to the Presidential and Parliamentary elections, you were captured in a video on circulation seated at Wontumi TV in Kumasi, hosted by one Oheneba Nana Asiedu, giving a firm assurance to we, the good people of Sekyere Kumawu that, you have lobbied for an approved roads from the ministry of Roads and Highways, and that the contractor will report to site the next day to commence work, and to be financed by the World Bank
Hon MP, its almost a year now since the entire constituents of Sekyere Kumawu was greeted with such a relief statement from you, but our people still ply on the deplorable roads, what has happened now, Sir??

2. Once again, on the 11th June, 2021 on the “Green Ghana Day” (Tree planting) at the Kumawu Polyclinic, where in your address to the gathering present in capacity as an Mp, you uttered that, the contractor who has been awarded to work on Kumasi Inter-changes, is the same person to equally work on Kumawu roads.

3. On the 5th of October, 2021, during the first day for the confirmation of the President’s nominee, at the Besoro Pentecost Church, you also stated emphatically without mincing words that, a contractor will report to site on the 15th October, 2021, that’s after 10 days, to start work on Kumawu roads.

4. The latest among them was just last Sunday, 7th November, 2021, when you went to an information centre in Kumawu, hosted by one Owura Gyamfi, and shared on his facebook page, saying different thing from the earlier statements we have highlighted above, and evidences available shows they are your true words, but the documents we have lay hands on, purportedly to be a plea from our Traditional Authorities to the Minister of Roads and Highways it’s in sharp contrast with what you said on the information center about roads.

Hon Mp, in your interraction with the host( Mr Owura Gyamfi) and per the video available to us and same shared on his facebook wall, you stated that, those constituents of Sekyere Kumawu who compare our poor roads to the asphalted roads in Effiduase, that you ply on before getting to Kumawu, lack some education, and that you rejected the 10km of roads, that Effiduase and other Districts received from the Urban Roads Department, because your focus was more on the lobbying for 20km of roads from the Ministry of Roads and Highways, but there are Akan proverbs that goes like:

“y3firi baako ansa na y’ak) mmienu”

“de3 onya ketewa a )b3 ma wo no, )noaa na onya k3se3 )b3 ma wo”

Hon Mp, we would be glad, if you could come clear on this statement from you, since the response from the Minister of Roads and Highways himself, Hon Amoako Attah, during the Questioning and Answering time on the floor of Parliament, where he(Roads Minister) clearly stated that, 5.3km of roads has been earmarked for Kumawu constituency, per the videos available on Facebook/YouTube in his address/response to the Speaker of Parliament, once again, this entirely defeats the very statement you made on the information, in less than a week ago.

Our group and the entire constituents are now frustrated as to whether to believe in your words this time round or what the sector minister said on the floor of Parliament, kindly help us in that regard, Honorable.

We must draw your attention to the fact that, our group and the entire constituents of Sekyere Kumawu who keenly observed the program at the information center are still in a state of shock, when you said that, the minister of Roads and Highways, Hon Amoako Attah told you, and I quote
“Basoah merehw3 wo ne contractor no anim….” which literally means, the delay in the progress of our roads it’s your fault and the unknown contractor, since you have failed to submit the needed documents/details to the minister for approval, this perceived shifting of pole strategy has created mistrust and confusion among residence of Sekyere Kumawu, which might have negative future repercussions on the your party and the next candidate who will replace you, since your decision not to contest again as you said prior the 2020 elections, means a new candidate from your party will come.

Mr Honorable, our group don’t want to believe that, the continuous broken promises we keep hearing on daily basis from you, as elaborated above it’s a clear indication of your less regard and respect for we the constituents of Sekyere Kumawu, as it has been imbibed in the minds of some constituents and even others who ply on our bad roads daily, kindly do the needful to safeguard your image and the very seat we have entrusted in your hands as an Mp, Sir.

To this end, our group would like to bring to your attention of our readiness to support you, Hon Philip Basoah, Mp for Kumawu constituency in championing any cause that will inure to the benefit of all constituents of Sekyere Kumawu, even if you are to follow suit from what your colleague, Mp and junior in the house, Hon Francis Sosu of Madina did and in order to express our displeasure, since the roads and the abandoned hospital started by erstwhile Mahama’s administration are the two key projects that are very dear to the hearts of Kumawuman.
END
