Be Courageous to Address Political Affairs – Asiedu Nketia to Chiefs

18/11/24 – The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has counseled chiefs to exhibit boldness in addressing political matters rather than adhering to the belief that chiefs should refrain from political involvement.

He emphasized that while chiefs are encouraged to steer clear of partisan politics, they are entitled to express their viewpoints on political issues.

“Do not remain silent on political matters that could jeopardize Ghana’s future development, and also commend political parties for beneficial policies that can expedite Ghana’s progress,”Mr. Asiedu remarked.

He further emphasized that the nation’s progress is a shared responsibility among all stakeholders, not solely the duty of politicians.

He urged chiefs to collaborate with politicians and other stakeholders to ensure Ghana’s growth and development.

General Mosquito made this appeal during his visit to the Subin Electoral Area, a suburb in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region, in response to a statement made by Nana Kofi Adjei I, the Ameyaw Hene of the Subin traditional council, asserting that “chiefs should steer clear of politics.”

He urged the constituents of the Upper Denkyira West Constituency to reaffirm their support for the NDC Parliamentary Candidate who was elected to parliament for the first time in the 2020 general elections.

He urged them to cast their votes for both the presidential and parliamentary candidates, former president John Dramani Mahama and Lawyer Daniel Ohene Darko respectively, to ensure the community’s development.

Nana Kofi Adjei I, the chief of Subin, in his address, called on the NDC to prioritize the development of Subin.

During the meeting with Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the chief highlighted the deteriorating condition of the road connecting Ayanfre to Subin, emphasizing the need for it to be repaired with asphalt.

He also emphasized the need to establish a Senior High School in the area to cater to students at the SHS level.
