John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on Ghanaians to reject the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
Speaking to NDC supporters during the party’s manifesto launch in Winneba, Central Region, on Saturday, 24 August 2024, Mr. Mahama painted a dire picture of the nation’s current state, describing Ghana as a “bleeding country” in desperate need of change.
“Our dear nation Ghana is bleeding, Ghana’s soul is calling for change. Mother Ghana is crying for its true, genuine, and patriotic citizens to rise and reset our beloved nation,” Mr. Mahama declared.
He urged the electorate to vote for positive transformation, assuring them that their ballots would end cronyism, corruption, state capture, and economic hardships.
Mr. Mahama expressed deep concern over the impact of the current administration, stating: “Ghanaians can take no more of the impunity, hardships, hypocrisy, bad governance, and state capture that has been inflicted on them by this outgoing administration.”
In a rallying cry to the nation, he added: “We cannot fail Mother Ghana, and I therefore urge all to vote for change in December 2024. Your vote will end cronyism, corruption, and hardship.”
