STRIP HEALTH MINISTER , KOJO OPPONG FROM NATIONAL AWARDS – MINORITY IN PARLIAMENT

The Minority in Parliament has accused the President Nana Akufo Addo of lowering the standards of the National Awards Programme by honouring persons whose conduct are currently being probed by a Parliamentary Committee of Enquiry, at the National Awards Programme held yesterday .

Speaking at a press conference on behalf of the Minority caucus , the Minority Ranking Member on Health Kwabena Mintah Akandoh mentioned Hon Kweku Agyeman Manu Minister of Health , the Minister of Information Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and Frontier Health Care Services as persons and institution who according to Kwabena Mintah Akandoh played questionable roles during the fight against the COVID 19 pandemic but were publicly decorated with high honours at the 2023 National Awards Programme .

Hon Kwabena Mintah Akandoh therefore urged the President to immediately strip the Minister of Health , the Minister of Information and others cited in the Auditor General’s audit of COVID 19 Funds and other undeserving awardees, of the awards conferred on them to help maintain the sanctity of the awards programme .
