Mr Mathias Tulasi, the Chief Executive Officer of Literacy Ambassadors Ghana (LAG), a non-governmental literacy organisation, has said Mr Michael Kenneth Nsowah, the chairman of GES Council, is not fit for the job and must resign.
Mr Tulasi, was reacting to the latest appointment of a banker, Dr. Eric Nkansah, as the Director General of the GES.

It is education and enlightenment that lift a nation to the heights of progress and greatness.
It is sad the way we are handling issues regarding education in our country in recent times.
The shambles created in the education sector must be corrected.
The Ghana Education Service Council has the core mandate of advising the Minister of Education on issues regarding policy formulation and the coordination of approved national policies, programmes and standards relating to Basic and Senior High Education delivery.
The ranks within the Ghana Education Service are as follows;

Director II

Assistant Director I

Principal Superintendent
Senior Superintendent I

On issues regarding the appointment of a Director General of GES, which is the highest rank based on one’s level of education and years of dedicated service, it is based on appointment by the President of the Republic upon recommendations of the GES council.
It is therefore, unthinkable for the newly inaugurated GES Council chaired by Mr Michael Kenneth Nsowah to fail the State by recommending a banker to occupy the highest position within the Ghana Education Service.
Mr Michael Kenneth Nsowah, should be reminded that General Director of GES is a rank.
Is it the case that someone with teaching background could be made an IGP or Director General of Ghana Health Service?
It is important for Mr Michael Kenneth Nsowah to resign because he is not fit for job if under his watch, a banker is appointed as the Director General of GES.
