A flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku, perceives difficult sanctions and obligations from the IMF after negotiations.
According to Dr. Apraku, “negotiations are ongoing and decisions are going to be made. We have very few options available to us and our government is going to select those that they believe to be good enough for the people.”
He cautioned the intellectual wing of the NPP to refrain from those who will condemn the policies. but rather, encouraged them to embrace themselves to take up the task to educate the masses to understand the implication of the decision by government for Ghanaians to adopt to the realities that will be imposed on us as a nation.
The renowned economist highlighted on the difficulties and challenges he believes NPP members will face when they go out to campaign due to the sanctions and obligations the IMF shall impose. However, he charged party faithfuls to impress upon Ghanaians to making them know that, “this is just the beginning of a process that will allow us to enter into a new face of development; and our suffering and challenges are only for a short period.
Dr. Apraku, addressing the Tertiary Students Confederacy(TESCON) branch at the Winsconsin University Kumasi campus,promised a thorough explanation of government programs and policies when the agreement have been duly signed with its obligation clearly stated and outlined, to support students with what to say in campaigning to break the eight.
