Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto stole the show on Sunday 19th December, 2021 when over five hundred (500) party executives from across the Country ushered him into the conference grounds amid chanting, singing and dancing.
The large crowd comprising mostly of electoral area coordinators and polling station executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) full of ecstasy could be heard chanting “The Last Hope of the Grassroots”, “Okumkum”, “The Only One with the Polling Station Executives’ Welfare at Heart”, “The Only One We Can Trust”, “The Only Direct Link to the UP Tradition”, “The Only Surviving Hope of the Tradition”, “The Legend”, “The Best Agric Minister Ever”, among others.
The large crowd which met Dr. Akoto cemented the widely held speculation of his popularity across the 16 regions especially from the five northern regions, Oti and the Volta regions.
Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, the man tipped as the favorite of the Party’s grassroots, used the opportunity to address the gathering before he was led to the conference grounds.
Addressing the Party executives, he commended them for their resolute and continuous commitment toward the course of the Party. He further appealed to them not to engage in any thing that will mar the beauty of conference, but rather, abide by all guidelines put in place by the Party.
Dr. Owusu Afriyie, son of the Founder of the National Liberation Movement (NLM), Okyeame Baffuor Akoto, is deemed by most political pundits and researchers as the most popular among the potential Presidential Aspirants.
