Sekyere Kumawu – In a meeting held at the Hungarian Embassy in Accra, local officials and Hungarian diplomats charted a new course for cooperation that could reshape agriculture and tourism in the Sekyere Kumawu district.

The gathering, hosted by the embassy’s agricultural attaché, brought together representatives of the Sekyere Kumawu Municipal Assembly, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ghana Tourism Authority. Discussions centered on ways to transfer Hungarian expertise in precision farming, agribusiness development, and rural tourism promotion to the Kumawu area.

Speaking after the talks, the Municipal Chief Executive of Sekyere Kumawu expressed optimism about the emerging partnership. “Today we took an important step toward unlocking new opportunities for our farmers and tourism operators,” he said. “Hungary’s experience in modern farming techniques and eco‑tourism aligns perfectly with our vision of sustainable development for Sekyere Kumawu.”

The Hungarian side highlighted several potential initiatives, including training programs for local farmers on crop diversification, irrigation technology, and value‑chain enhancement, as well as joint marketing campaigns to showcase the district’s cultural heritage sites, historic forts, and natural attractions to European visitors.
Both parties agreed to establish a joint working group that will draft a memorandum of understanding, identify pilot projects, and secure funding from bilateral and multilateral sources. “We are confident that this collaboration will pave the way for shared growth and innovation,” the embassy’s chargé d’affaires remarked. “Together, we will continue to work towards sustainable development for the people of Sekyere Kumawu.”
The meeting concluded with a tour of the embassy’s agricultural exhibition, where Hungarian equipment and demonstration plots were displayed. Officials from Sekyere Kumawu left with a clear roadmap for the next steps and a shared commitment to deepen Ghana‑Hungary relations.
