A devastating fire outbreak occurred at Kumawu, leaving a house completely burned down to ashes. According to an eyewitness, the incident began when someone shouted for help, and soon, a heavy smoke was seen emanating from the house. Despite efforts by residents to put out the fire, it proved too intense, and they were forced to call the fire service for assistance.

Unfortunately, the firemen took a considerable amount of time to arrive, and by then, the house had been reduced to ashes. The landlady of the house is said to have lost a significant amount of GHC 35,000, as well as valuable items including a TV, refrigerator, and other essential belongings.

The delayed response by the fire service has sparked outrage in the community, with some residents expressing frustration that a district like Kumawu lacks a fire tender. “It’s annoying that we have to rely on neighboring districts for assistance in times of emergencies,” one community member lamented. “If we had a fire tender, we could have responded quickly and minimized the damage.”

Hon. Michel Gyamfi, the assembly member for the area, echoed these concerns and pleaded with the government to provide fire tenders to all districts across Ghana. “The lack of fire tenders in our districts is a recipe for disaster,” he said. “We urge the government to take urgent action to equip all districts with fire-fighting vehicles to minimize the loss of properties and lives.”

Hon. Gyamfi also visited the scene and provided assistance to the victims, helping them with temporary arrangements to get through the night. The incident has left the family devastated and in dire need of support.
