News coming in indicates Nana Poku Barima, Atonsu Nifahene, has been beaten mercilessly by some thugs allegedly hired by one Afryie for attempting to stop them from pulling down a billboard at Atonsu in the Asokwa Municipality.
Nana Yaw Adarkwa Gu Ayeboafo, the Atonsuhene, is reported to have changed the name of the Atonsu market from its previous name; “Agogo Market” to “Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III”, a gesture to honour the Asantehemaa on her 5th Anniversary.
The move which did not go down well with one Afriyie who is said to be a caretaker of the market on behalf of Asantehemaa hired thugs to pull down the billboard which bears the new name, Asantehemaa Konadu Yiadom III to register his displeasure about the change of name.
In the course of the demolition, Nana Poku Barima, Atonsu Nifahene who heard of the news and rushed to the scene to witness the action himself was not spared, leader of the gang, Afriyie ordered his men to beat him up.
