PLANTING FOR FOOD AND JOBS: AGRIC MINISTER PROVIDES FREE MEALS TO DELEGATES

National Delegates Conference of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Heroes Park located within the premises of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Over 5,000 people have the luxury of choosing from assorted foods and drinks which have been provided under the auspices of the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto.

Popularly referred to as Dr. Planting for Food and Jobs,  Hon. Akoto Afriyie, who is credited with abundance of foods in the country owing to the roll out of the flagship PFJ initiatives, is said to have sponsored the provision of the free meals, ostensibly giving credence to the policies and programmes being implemented under his leadership at the Ministry.

The Agric Minister,  who has also shook the political circles in recent times, following reports that he is lacing his boots to contest the for the flagbearership slot of the party, received a mammoth welcome upon his arrival at the conference grounds this morning.

Reports indicate that but for the fiat issued earlier this week by the National Executive Committee of the party barring any interested groups from campaigning for their preferred candidates,  the Agric Minister would have stolen the show with massive support from some grassroots groups and supporters.

Hon. Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto,  who is considered largely as a compromised candidate,  is said to be enjoying popular support from especially the five northern regions,  as well as parts of Volta and Oti Regions where volunteer groups have mounted several of his billboards to show their support for him.
