The Minority Caucus of Parliament has accused government of making deliberate efforts to collapse the National Investment Bank ( NIB ) but says the caucus will take every necessary step to prevent government from going ahead with such plan .
The Minority caucus made the allegation at a press conference which was addressed by the Minority DeputyMember on
Richard Achiampong
He said currently the NIB is faced with capitalization deficit of Ghc 2.4 billion but explained that there are many options government can resort to in order to save the bank from its capitalization challenges but said government is not making such efforts .
To ease the financial pressure on the NIB , he said government should pay amounts owed road contractors who have borrowed money from the NIB so that the contractors can also pay their loans to the bank . Secondly , Isaac Adongo urged government to convert loans it has granted to the NIB into equity as part of measures to strengthen the Bank .
