A total of 32 girls from the Asokore Mampong Municipality have successfully completed the 2026 Africa Girls Can Code (AGCC) Programme.

The five-day intensive digital skills training, which started on 28th September and ended on 2nd October 2026 at the Ashanti Regional GIFEC Head Office in Kwadaso, is designed to advance digital inclusion, ICT literacy and female participation in STEM.

Out of 50 participants selected from across the Ashanti Region, 32 representing 64% were from Asokore Mampong, a significant representation that underscores the municipality’s commitment to girl-child empowerment in technology.
The intervention is part of broader national efforts to bridge the gender digital divide and create sustainable pathways for young women to participate meaningfully in Ghana’s rapidly evolving digital economy.
The Minister for the Interior and MP for Asawase, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, who disclosed this, commended all partners who made the programme a success.
He expressed sincere appreciation to the Government of Ghana, the MCE for Asokore Mampong, Hon. Ben Abdallah Alhassan, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the CEO of GIFEC, Dr. Sofo Rashid Tanko Computer, the GIFEC Coordinator for Asokore Mampong, Salifu Abubakari (B. Bala), and all stakeholders.
According to him, beyond the acquisition of technical skills, the AGCC programme is helping to develop a new generation of digitally empowered young women with the knowledge, confidence and competencies required to pursue further education, innovation, entrepreneurship and careers within the ICT ecosystem.
