The Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA), under the leadership of the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Andy Osei Okrah, has distributed 60,000 elite rubber seedlings to 135 beneficiary farmers under the TCDA Free Elite Seedlings Distribution Programme for the 2026 planting season in the Western Region.

In addition to the seedlings, beneficiaries received essential farm inputs, including termiticides, herbicides, and Wellington boots, to support the successful establishment and maintenance of their rubber plantations.


The distribution was carried out on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Operations), Mr. Rich Kofi Kofituo, together with the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Administration & Finance), Mr. Stephen Acquah Asante, Technical Director, Mr. Eric Asamani TCDA’s and Rubber Value Chain Specialist, Mr. Kennedy Nsiah.

The initiative reaffirms TCDA’s commitment to increasing production across Ghana’s tree crops sector, with rubber identified as one of the Authority’s key strategic priority crops. Beyond increasing production, The vision of the Authority is to enhance value addition by creating an enabling environment for private investment in rubber processing and manufacturing into products line cars tyres, medical gloves, condoms among other products.

Beneficiary farmers commended H.E John Dramani Mahama and the leadership of TCDA for the support for farmers in the rubber industry, noting that the intervention will help increase production, improve livelihoods, and accelerate the growth of Ghana’s rubber sector.
