In a press statement signed by the Ashanti Regional Council of State Member, he noted that the Ashanti Regional Development is not a Talkshow but delivery and not Distortion will define the record

According to him, he has been following with concern recent attempts by some New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament in the Ashanti Region to shift responsibility for unfinished development projects onto the current administration of President John Dramani Mahama.

According to him, ordinarily, his role on the Council of State requires restraint. However, as a son of Asanteman and advocate for balanced development, he cannot remain silent when facts are selectively presented and history reshaped for political convenience.

He stated that the people of Ashanti deserve honesty, accountability, and leadership grounded in verifiable outcomes, not shifting narratives. It is worth recalling remarks attributed to Mr. Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, who once suggested that certain Ashanti NPP MPs appeared more focused on constituency-level gains than coordinated regional development. While initially dismissed, ongoing reflection on delayed infrastructure projects gives it renewed relevance.

He noted that the core issue remains straightforward.

President John Dramani Mahama initiated the Afari Military Hospital and the Sewua Regional Hospital to decongest Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and expand healthcare access across the middle belt. By January 2017, both projects had reached advanced stages.

He emphasized that the Afari Military Hospital is a facility under the Ghana Armed Forces, governed strictly by military authorization and access procedures, as underscored in recent parliamentary oversight interactions.

Thereafter, the NPP held national power for eight years, controlled the presidency, and dominated parliamentary representation in the Ashanti Region. Yet these projects remained unfinished for a prolonged period. According to him, that makes current attempts at blame-shifting difficult to reconcile with the record of time and authority.

He expressed the view that this is not accountability; it is political convenience reframed. Adding that Development in the Ashanti Region has never belonged to one political tradition. The NDC has consistently pursued an inclusive development philosophy anchored on equity and national integration.

He disclosed that under President John Dramani Mahama, the region benefited from key interventions, including Afari Military Hospital, Sewua Regional Hospital, Kejetia Market Redevelopment (Phase I), Kumasi Airport expansion toward international standards, Community Day Senior High Schools (E-Blocks) across districts, Tepa, Konongo, and Fomena hospital projects, Urban and feeder road improvements, Expansion of water systems to multiple communities, Rural electrification to underserved areas and Educational infrastructure investments

These he said remain tangible elements of the regional development landscape.

He reiterates that today under President John Dramani Mahama and Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene, development momentum is re-emerging with renewed focus. As current priorities includes Aputuogya 24-Hour Market initiative, Operational steps for Afari Military Hospital and Sewua Hospital, Krofrom Market redevelopment, Rehabilitation of bridges including Mpasaso, Kotokuom, and Jacobu

He also indicated that Urban roads and drainage works in Kaase, Ahodwo, and surrounding areas, Youth and community initiatives on civic and environmental improvement are reflect a delivery driven governance approach.

Mr Obimpeh stressed that the people of Ashanti are discerning. They distinguish between initiating and completing, between governance and commentary.

He said Development is not defined by statements, but by functional hospitals, working markets, connected roads, and improved livelihoods.

He stated as former Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NDC and Member of the Council of State, he remain confident in President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to accelerating development across the region and country.

He Reaffirmed that the Ashanti Region deserves leadership that values completion over contradiction and performance over propaganda. As history ultimately remembers those who built, not those who debated what others built.
