The Ashanti Regional Council of State Member, Hon Yaw Owusu Obimpeh has made significant donations to the Kumasi Central Prison as part of an annual humanitarian initiative.

The donated items included essential provisions such as bags of rice, boxes of cooking oil, bags of sugar, boxes of mackerel, tomato paste, and packs of tea.

“This is not just an act of charity; it is a recognition of the basic human rights that every individual deserves, regardless of their circumstances,”Yaw Obimpeh stated that
“Is time of reflection and giving, it is important to remember those who may be struggling and to extend our support to them,” he added.

The donations are intended to promote dignity and well-being among inmates, reinforcing the idea that rehabilitation should take precedence over retribution within the correctional system.
The Council of State Member hopes that such initiatives will inspire others to contribute to the welfare of inmates and to advocate for a correctional system that prioritizes rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
