The Chief Executive Officer of the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA), Dr. Andy Osei Okrah, served as a Panel Member at the 2026 SHEA Conference were agribusiness leaders, global players and investors in the shea industry gathered for a three-day conference organized by the Global Shea Alliance with support from the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Secretariat.


The Conference was officially inaugurated by Her Excellency Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana.


In her address, the Vice President underscored the urgent need for Ghana and the wider African region to move beyond exporting raw shea products and instead focus on value addition.

During the panel discussion, Dr. Osei Okrah responded to questions on Ghana’s economic transformation on value addition particularly shea and the government’s regulatory measures in the shea sector aimed at increasing supply for local processors.

He further emphasised the critical role women play in the growth of the shea industry and highlighted TCDA’s interventions, including financial support and the provision of improved picking materials and innovation to boost production.

Dr. Osei Okrah also noted that the Authority is steadily transforming the shea sector through registration and licensing systems, pricing mechanisms, and policies designed to streamline and strengthen the industry.
