The Sekyere Kumawu District has institutionalized a monthly clean-up exercise, held on the first Saturday of every month.

This initiative, which began after the current government took over from the previous NPP administration, aims to promote a clean and healthy environment.

On Saturday, September 6, 2025, the district witnessed a remarkable turnout of community members, who demonstrated new skills in cleaning various areas. The communities were divided into groups, with community leaders such as assembly members, unit committee members, and traditional leaders (Nananom) taking charge.

The exercise saw an impressive participation from key stakeholders, including the Kumawu Ambulance Service, the Police, and other security officers, who joined forces with the community to clean up the district.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Kwasi Amankwa, encouraged participants to spread the word to their families and neighbors to join in the clean-up exercises. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean environment for healthy living.

Hon. Amankwa’s message was reinforced by the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Emmanuel Appia-Kubi, who participated in the clean-up exercise at Kumawu Oyoko. Mr. Appia-Kubi advised the community on the importance of healthy living and urged the youth not to litter in public places.

The District Environmental Health Director, Mr. Richard Adams, also engaged with the community, offering guidance and encouraging residents to report any instances of improper waste disposal. He emphasized that the community should not hesitate to complain when they notice someone dumping rubbish in the wrong place.
