Former President, John Dramani Mahama has picked nomination forms to contest the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearership position ahead of the 2024 general elections.

A leading member of the NDC, Professor Joshua Alabi picked the nomination forms at the party’s headquarters in Accra on behalf of Mr Mahama.

The NDC opened the filing of nominations for parliamentary and presidential primaries on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.

Speaking to journalists after picking the nomination forms on behalf of the former NDC flagbearer, Professor Alabi said Mr Mahama declared his intentions to contest the flagbearership position of the party due to calls from Ghanaians.

“We are here to pick up the forms for John Dramani Mahama. As you are aware we are in very difficult times in this country, the economy is in shambles, people are suffering and the summary here is that people are crying for the NDC to come back.

“The NDC has gone through all its structures, and elections, it is time to come for the flagbearer to deliver the 2024 elections,” he said.

Meanwhile, a staunch member of the NDC branch in UK, Ernest Kwaku Kobeah has also picked nomination forms to challenge John Dramani Mahama for the party’s flagbearership position.

Kobeah, a modern sewage system specialist and the Chief Executive Officer of City Experts Limited Group in UK picked the nomination forms in Accra on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.

As an indigene of Asante Mampong in the Ashanti Region, Kwaku Kobeah is confident of beating Mr Mahama for the NDC flagbearership position.

On what victory margin he is expecting, he told journalists that ” I don’t have a comment on that…”

“I am here to stand and build the new Ghana, I am no here for the future, I am here for now,” he further responded to a question of whether he is only making his presence in the NDC felt by picking up the forms.
