The Chief Executive Officer of the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA), Dr. Andy Osei Okrah, joined the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, and the Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi, for the official handing over of three million mango, cashew, and moringa seedlings to farmers at Nkoranza in the Bono East Region, yesterday, May 11, 2026.

The project, supported by the World Food Programme (WFP), aims to provide improved planting materials to beneficiary farmers across the participating districts of Techiman North, Techiman South, Kintampo Municipality, Kintampo South, Nkoranza North, and Nkoranza Municipality.

The initiative is being implemented under the Agroforestry Carbon Removal Units for the Organic Restoration of Nature (ACORN) platform and is expected to support about 21,000 smallholder farmers.

With cashew and mango being two major cash-crops under the mandate of the Tree Crops Development Authority, Dr. Andy Osei Okrah, in his remarks at the ceremony, underscored TCDA’s broader strategy to improve farmers’ access to quality and certified planting materials across the country through the registration and licensing of all actors, particularly nursery operators, to enhance and maintain seedling standards.

He emphasized that quality seedlings are fundamental to establishing productive, resilient and commercially viable plantations capable of meeting both domestic and international market standards.
