In the words of Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon which we can use to change the world”. children are therefore advised to go to school to acquire knowledge and skills.
The environment in which one school’s affects their personal development. Research shows that school buildings that are in good condition and attractive may signal to students that someone cares and there is a positive social climate which in turn may encourage better attendance.
Unfortunately, many schools in Ghana, especially those in the rural areas have dilapidated structures.
Students of Weredukrom M/A in the Wassa Amenfi West wrote this term exams in a deathtrap structure. They did not have peace of mind to write the exams as noise could be heard from a chainsaw operator who was carrying out his usual activities.
In the video below, students of Weredukrom M/A students have been left to their fate as the classrooms they sit in to learn are in a poor state. It’s a mud structure with no better roofing.
In an interview with some of the students at Weredukrom M/A, they revealed to Pazion Media representative that class one students and nursery students run shifts. Sometimes KG 1 and KG 2 students close before class 1 students can use the same classroom. Class 2, class 3 and class 4 students share one room.
Class 5 and 6 students share one room. There are 3 classrooms and 1 office room for teachers in the school.
Residents of Weredukrom are pleading with the government to come to their aid since the bad state of the school affects students performance and also contribute to low-class attendance.
