Hon. Muntaka Mubarak, Minister for the Interior, has been commended by the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) Governing Council for his exceptional leadership and commitment to improving the service.

The Council, led by Rev. Steve Wengam, praised Mubarak’s focus on transparent recruitment, logistics, and migration governance.

The government has provided 20 pickup vehicles to support GIS operations, and plans are underway for a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiative, “Secure Our Borders (SECOBOD)”, to enhance border security. Mubarak assured the Council of his unwavering support and urged GIS officers to remain professional and patriotic.

The Minister highlighted the importance of immigration officers as the first point of contact at Ghana’s borders, emphasizing the need for a robust border monitoring system. Seven new regional offices are set to be constructed as part of the government’s retooling agenda for security services.
