*Ghana Armed Forces Revive “Exercise Tiger’s Path” with New Jungle Warfare Infrastructure*

Accra, Ghana – After a five‑year hiatus, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) brought back one of its longest‑running military exercises, “Exercise Tiger’s Path,” this year, marking a renewed focus on jungle warfare training and national resilience.

The historic drill, first launched in 1991 under the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC), was re‑activated under the banner “Exercise Tiger’s Path 2025.”

Speaking at the opening ceremony at the Jungle Warfare Training School in Achiase, Eastern Region, the Minister for Roads and Highways, acting on behalf of the Minister for Defence, announced the completion of a comprehensive internal road network and the refurbishment of the parade grounds at the school.

“The construction of all internal roads and the parade ground was started and finished within this year,” the minister said. “This project was made possible by the steadfast commitment of Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza, who prioritized the road works, and the vision of our late Minister for Defence, Hon. Edward Omane Boamah, whose initiative set this in motion.”

The minister also extended gratitude to the High Command of the GAF for its leadership and to the training school staff for their dedication, which earned him a special award during the event. “We are highly appreciative of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama for his continued development of the Armed Forces’ infrastructure,” he added, referencing the president’s broader agenda of modernizing Ghana’s security sector.

The exercise, which ran for several weeks, tested the endurance, tactical acumen and teamwork of participants from across the armed forces. Central Command emerged as the overall winner, a testament to their preparation and resilience. “Congratulations to Central Command and to every soldier who took part,” the minister said. “Your strength and endurance have set a high standard for the future of our armed forces.”

Exercise Tiger’s Path 2025 was designed not only as a showcase of Ghana’s jungle warfare capabilities but also as a platform for inter‑service cooperation, civil‑military liaison and the reinforcement of national unity. The newly completed roads will improve logistics and accessibility within the training area, allowing for more frequent and larger‑scale drills in the years to come.

Local officials in Achiase welcomed the upgrades, noting that the improved infrastructure will benefit the surrounding communities by facilitating transport and stimulating economic activity. “The roads will make it easier for farmers to bring their produce to market and for emergency services to reach remote areas,” said the district chief executive.

As the closing parade concluded, participants marched past the refurbished grounds, the national flag fluttering overhead. The event underscored the government’s “Resetting Ghana” agenda, which seeks to strengthen institutions, invest in critical infrastructure and promote sustainable development across the nation.

Exercise Tiger’s Path 2025 is expected to become a regular feature in the GAF’s training calendar, reinforcing Ghana’s commitment to maintaining a professional, well‑equipped military capable of responding to the challenges of the 21st century.
