Ato Ahwoi, a founding member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), had a heated exchange with broadcaster Paul Adom-Otchere on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana. Ahwoi accused Adom-Otchere of stirring mischief in the party’s affairs, particularly after Adom-Otchere reacted to a poll by Global Info Analytics ranking Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu as the strongest potential NDC presidential candidate for 2028.
Ahwoi told Adom-Otchere to “keep quiet and shut your mouth and let Mahama rule,” emphasizing that it’s too early to discuss the party’s flagbearer since President Mahama has only been in office for nine months. Ahwoi also questioned why Adom-Otchere was predicting the NDC’s next leader and accused Metro TV of deliberately featuring him to sow confusion.¹ ² ³
In response, host Moro Awudu denied claims of bias, stating that the production team follows a rigorous process in selecting guests. Adom-Otchere also rejected the criticism, saying his comments were based on the poll’s findings and not personal. He added that he doesn’t wish the NDC evil because he has friends within the party.
