“Empowering Lives: Sekyere Kumawu Assembly Provides Financial and Essential Support to PWDs”

The District Chief Executive for Sekyere Kumawu Assembly, Hon. Kwasi Amankwaa, stepped up to the podium, a warm smile on his face as he gazed out at the gathering of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) before him.

Today marked a significant milestone – the presentation of financial support and essential items to 100 PWDs across the district.

With a deep commitment to inclusivity and empowerment, Hon. Amankwaa emphasized the Assembly’s dedication to building a district where everyone had the opportunity to thrive. “We believe in creating an environment where every individual, regardless of their abilities, can live with dignity and contribute to our community’s growth,” he declared.

As the beneficiaries received their support, their faces lit up with gratitude. Some were receiving assistance for the first time, and the impact was palpable. Thirty-five PWDs received a total of GH₵ 100,000 for business support, with each getting GH₵ 2,000 to kickstart or boost their ventures. Fifteen PWDs were supported with medical assistance, while 20 students received educational support, including those in special schools and a training college.

Hon. Amankwaa’s commitment to transparency and accountability shone through in the Assembly’s approach. Instead of providing funds to beneficiaries or committee members to purchase items, the Assembly directly engaged approved suppliers. This ensured that resources were utilized effectively and efficiently.

Madam Regina Ampomaa, chairperson of Persons with Disabilities at Sekyere Kumawu district, commended the government for increasing the disabilities fund. She urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the support, emphasizing the importance of leveraging these resources to improve their livelihoods.

As the ceremony concluded, the beneficiaries left with renewed hope and determination. The support provided by the Sekyere Kumawu Assembly was more than just financial assistance – it was a testament to the district’s commitment to inclusivity and empowerment. With this initiative, the Assembly had taken a significant step towards creating a more equitable society where everyone could thrive.
