The 2025 World Shea Expo, held in Tamale, has come to a successful close, with stakeholders and industry players calling for increased collaboration and investment in the shea sector. Dr. Andy Osei Okrah, CEO of the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA), delivered the closing remarks, highlighting the authority’s strategy to position the shea sector as one of its key crops.

Dr. Okrah emphasized the massive potential of the shea industry to generate billions of dollars, citing the need for effective regulations, licensing, and policy frameworks to unlock this potential. He urged stakeholders, value chain actors, and partners to rally behind TCDA’s Shea Sector Plans, which aim to create jobs for youth and empower women, particularly in the northern regions.
