“Ashanti Regional NADMO Director Inaugurates Municipal Disaster Committee”

The Ashanti Regional NADMO Director arrived in Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipality with a clear purpose: to strengthen disaster management structures and build resilience in the community.

Accompanied by the Regional P.R.O and other staff members, the director was warmly received by the municipal authorities.

The team’s first engagement was with the municipal staff, where they discussed disaster management issues and strategies for improving human resource capacity. The conversation was informative, with both sides sharing insights and ideas on how to enhance disaster preparedness and response.

A significant highlight of the visit was the official inauguration of the Municipal Disaster Management Committee (MDMC). Chaired by the Municipal Chief Executive, the committee brought together key stakeholders, including municipal officers, security agencies, and community representatives.

The MDMC would play a crucial role in coordinating disaster response efforts and building community resilience.

The delegation also paid a courtesy call on the Ejurahene, the traditional leader of the area. The meeting was productive, with discussions focusing on community resilience and initiatives to support disaster recovery and food security. The Ejurahene’s allocation of 100 acres of land for farming was a significant gesture, demonstrating the traditional leader’s commitment to supporting the community’s development.

Through this visit, NADMO reaffirmed its commitment to building stronger collaboration with local authorities and traditional leaders. By working together, the stakeholders aimed to enhance disaster preparedness and response, ultimately building a more resilient community. The visit marked an important step in this journey, laying the groundwork for future initiatives and collaborations.
