The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has announced a major development project for her constituency, including the rehabilitation of several deteriorating roads and a local skills training initiative.
In an interview, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe disclosed that some roads in poor condition, particularly major routes in Amenfi Central and surrounding communities such as Annobil, Wassa Bekwai, Kwaboakrom, and Chichiso No. 1, are set to receive a significant facelift. According to her, the government has responded positively to their appeals and has promised to complete the road projects.
As part of the initiative, the MP revealed that the contractor in charge of the project is requesting three individuals from each of the 23 Electoral Areas within the constituency to be trained in culvert (corvette) construction. She urged all interested individuals, including branch and constituency executives, not to be shy about participating in the training.
“If three people are selected from each electoral area, we will have over 200 trainees. This means that, directly or indirectly, jobs will be created,” she explained. “I encourage all executives to inform their communities about this opportunity. It’s a collaborative effort between myself, the District Chief Executive, and the contractor.”
Hon. Joana emphasized that once trained, these individuals will not only support ongoing construction but will also be equipped to fix damaged bridges in their communities in the future.
She also noted that all major contractors working on the roads have agreed to hire only local laborers, ensuring that employment and financial benefits remain within Amenfi Central.
“No matter where you are — whether in Agona, Nyamebekyere, Ankase, or Manso Amenfi — you can take part in this training. Imagine the impact if 400 people acquire skills in culvert construction. They can help fix deplorable roads across the constituency,” she said.
Interested individuals are encouraged to submit their names to the District Chief Executive for enrollment in the program.
