Salaga South MP Pays Tribute at Funeral of Late David Buernortey Nartey (a.k.a. Boateng)

Hon. Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, Member of Parliament for Salaga South, attended the funeral of the late Mr. David Buernortey Nartey, affectionately known as “Hon. Boateng,” at Anyamam in Ada.

Speaking at the funeral, Hon. Zuwera expressed deep sorrow over the loss, stating that words could hardly capture the emotions she felt. She described Mr. Nartey as a brother and comrade, sharing how she only recently discovered that “Boateng” was a corrupted form of his true name, “Buernortey.”

She noted that the area where Mr. Nartey resided with his family and had even been nicknamed “Boateng Pe”—meaning “Boateng has left a legacy”—in recognition of his impact on the Salaga South Constituency in the Savannah Region. According to her, his devotion to his trade and his values were proof that he was a man of faith, now resting with the Lord.

Hon. Zuwera recounted their eight-year friendship, marked by loyalty, love, and service. She recalled how they met through the Greater Akatamanso Family and how Mr. Boateng remained committed to it until his death. From 2018 to December 7, 2024, she said, they worked tirelessly toward the political goals of the NDC, with Mr. Boateng always willing to offer his support without hesitation whenever called upon in the name of the party.

According to Awari Lawal , a campaign team member for Hon. Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, said that , Hon Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimiah has been informed that the funeral budget for the late David Kwame Buernortey Nartey is GH¢26,000. As a show of support, Hon. Zuwera has pledged to contribute GH¢10,000 toward the expenses. The amount has been sent to Paul, a relative of the late Mr. Nartey.
