The CEO of the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA) attended Global shea Alliance 2025 conference at cotonou

The Chief Executive Officer of the Tree Crops Development Authority, Hon Andy Okrah, participated in the Shea 2025 Conference on Export Regulations and Policy Shifts, organized by the Global Shea Alliance under the leadership of the Managing Director, Mr. Aaron Adu in Cotonou, Benin.

The conference which was officially opened by Ms. Shadiya Alimatou Assouman, Minister of Industry and Commerce of Benin, brought together farmers, pickers, processors, exporters, associations and all stakeholders in the shea value chain from Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Mali and beyond.

At the High-Level Panel Session, I highlighted Ghana’s progressive steps to balance local value addition with regional trade through the introduction the new TCDA Directive on Raw Shea Nut Exports, requiring exporters to obtain a permit from TCDA to ensure supply for domestic industries and promote value addition.

Hon Okrah spoke about the Registration and Licensing of all value chain actors to enhance traceability and Ghana’s focus on boosting production through the introduction of improved varieties and women and youth participation in the shea industry.
