Discipline, transparency and accountability will define my leadership – President Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his deep commitment to running a government anchored on discipline, transparency, and accountability values he says are non-negotiable.

Speaking at the opening of a four-day Executive Leadership Programme at Aqua Safari Resort in Ada, President Mahama made it clear to his appointees: these are not just ideals, they’re expectations—and anyone who strays from them will be shown the exit.

“If you cannot live by these principles, you cannot be part of this government,” he stated firmly.

The programme, under the theme “Re-Imagining Leadership in a ‘Reset’ Ghana”, is designed to challenge Ghana’s top political and public service leaders to reflect on the kind of leadership the country needs in today’s fast-changing world.

Participants will spend the next four days sharpening their leadership skills, reflecting on ethical governance, and learning new approaches to managing public institutions with integrity.

“This is a new chapter for Ghana,” President Mahama told attendees. “We must lead with humility, clarity of purpose, and a deep sense of responsibility to the people we serve.”

The President’s message struck a chord with many of the leaders gathered, especially as the country navigates pressing challenges from rebuilding public trust to delivering real results in a rapidly evolving environment.

As the retreat gets underway, the tone has been set under Mahama’s watch, leadership will not be about privilege but purpose.
