The Kumawu Zongo of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Kicked against any attempt by the party’s appointing Authority to nominate their Ex Parliamentary Candidate Mr Akwasi Amankwaa.
According to them, the nomination of the Ex Parliamentary Candidate would be an insult to their integrity as the zongos in the Constituency.
Sualey Olanto Yakubu, the secretary to the constituency Elections Directorates at press conference explained that ta Former NDC appointee in the Constituency allegedly made a derogatory comment against the zongos that he would not allow a native from the Zongo to lead the party in the Constituency.
Expressing their displeasure at a press conference at the party office,the pirate Zongo youth dismantle the office furnitures and other properties of the party.
According to him the Zongo community played a significant role in the last elections to turn the fortunes of the party to increase the party’s votes, and that would be an insult to their integrity fighting for the party with their lives and to be insulted for no reason.
Mr Yakubu disclosed that one Shamsu Huda, the deputy constituency secretary has being with the party and always working tirelessly in the Constituency and is qualify to be nominated as the DCE for the district and is their preferred choice for the position.
He stressed that they are pleading with the president John Dramani Mahama through Mr Ahmed Ibrahim the local government Minister to appoint Mr Shamsu Huda for the position or advice themselves.
