The Minister of Works and Housing Hon.Gilbert Kenneth Agyei, has presented food items to Twenty constituencies in the Ashanti Region in support of the Ramadan festivity.
The items include 100 bags of Sugar, Lipton, 80 bags of rice and bottles of cooking oil.
Some twenty constituencies within the Ashanti Region are to benefit from the donation.
Presenting the food items on behalf of the Minister in Kumasi , The Ashanti Regional Director of Operations, Mallam Yaya Mohammed, commended all Muslims for peacefully observing this year’s Ramadan despite their individual challenges.
The donation, he said, was to support Muslims who have been involved in fasting.
He explained that the Minister believed that it was essential that all Ghanaians show love and compassion to their Muslim neighbours, especially during the celebration of Ramadan.
Chairman Iddrissu Mahyia North Constituency who doubles as the Ashanti Regional DRIP coordinator who received the donation on behalf of all the beneficiary communities, expressed gratitude to the Minister for the donation.
Chairman Iddrissu said “We’re grateful the minister has remembered us this holy month. For giving this to the Muslim communities signifies a lot to us,” he said.
They prayed for peace and unity among the populace towards working together to address challenges in the country.
