Let’s Unite and Make Ghana Proud Devoid Political Sentiment, Minister to Kumawood Actors

Dr Frank Amoakohene the Ashanti Regional Minister has entreated Kumawood Actors to help make Ghana proud devoid political sentiment and do everything possible to revive the industry.


According to him, Kumawood play key role in putting Ashanti culture and Ghana to the limelight globally and that the need to always remains united by ensuring that the industry always remains vibrant.


He expressed the view that the industry must grow beyond politics, and that irrespective of which political party one is coming from is not what matters but the welfare of the industry must be a priority.


The Minister made the commendations at an engagement with the Kumawood Actors towards bringing the gap between the ministry and all industry players aimed at developing the region holistically through Road networks, Health, Education and Entertainment.


The Minister expressed the importance of meeting and engaging the industry players, listen to their ideas, perspectives and challenges.


He expressed worry over the various tourism site in the region which includes Water falls, craft and the area of creatives but are unknown to take public which is compelling them traveling far distance to enjoy the feel of such places.


The Minister also reminded the industry players of training of the upcoming youth interested in the industry and urged them to ensure active collaboration with the government of the day through the tourism ministry in the providing of equipments and logistics to enhance the training of the upcoming youth.


Rev Samuel Nyamekye of miracles film and Paul Agyei aka PULGEE, on behalf of the industry pleaded with the minister through the government intervention to support them, as they remains united and very vibrant, because they believe the President of the Republic John Dramani Mahama is having the industry at heart.


They also pleaded with him to complete the creative Art School started by the elsewhere NPP government at Kwadaso to enhance their training, and help them with distribution network to transact their movies.


The industry also want the reduction of premiering taxes and a scholarship scheme for screen members, they want the government to assist members with recognition letters for visas.


They pleaded with the minister to help them establish film village to ensure that member does not always mingle with the society to regain respect as the industry players and give them the chance to benefit from exchange programmes to maximize their knowledge for modern film making with loans and grants to maximize their productions.
