The Aggrieved Cocoa Farmers in the Western Region are expecting the government to increase the amount from *Gh 2,70.00 to Gh 6,000.00* in the 2024/2025 season starting in October of this year to meet in line with World Market value.
According to them, their main grievance is that,the government has cheated the Farmers a lot so they are expecting the original increament this year or incru their worth.
Addressing the media at a press conference at Tarkwa Community Centre in the Western Region by the Huni Valley District Chief Farmer, Nana Boakye Thomas, he said, even the pension scheme for Cocoa Farmers has eluded the farmers for the past 40 years.
He said, the pension scheme is need to be transparent to the farmer in the country.
He added that, they are also demanding a stoppage inputs supplied to Cocoa Farmers and also fixing of age old Cocoa roads.
He also explained how the Cocoa Farmers nowadays are suffering in the country.
