Vice Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has expressed confidence the NDC, led by John Dramani Mahama, will win the December 7 elections.
She spoke at the launch of the 2024 NDC Manifesto in Winneba, Central region, Saturday, August 24.
“This manifesto is not a set of attractive or empty promises. It is a roadmap to a better future for every Ghanaian. It is also our social democratic blueprint for building the Ghana we all want together,” she noted.
The former education minister said: “When I say ‘together’, we all understand. It’ll take everyone’s strength, knowledge, time – everybody is needed to push us forward.
“It’s not just the president’s problem. It’s the problem of all of us. And I believe everyone called upon to serve in any capacity will do their best to change our living conditions, families, and many other things, so the country can put on its beautiful garb.”
“What party must then be voted into power?” the academic rhetorically asked. “Which party understands us? Which party is dedicated to development?”
“We vote for nothing else but development. We sang a song that says development is our goal. This is why a leader comes into power. It’s not about deception and slangs, and irrelevant slogans. We come to work hard,” Prof Opoku-Agyemang asserted with a hint of admonishment for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The potential first female vice president of Ghana noted why she was certain the NDC will return to power during the 2025 New Year celebrations.
“We are confident in the victory ahead. And the NDC has a good track record, as well as a renewed vision. We are motivated by confidence in our skills, and the will of our fellow citizens,” she said.
“Progress is within our reach and the reach of every Ghanaian regardless your age, religion or whatever that differentiates you.”
Speaking just before part-two of Mr Mahama’s presentation, she said: “We are here to present something which is very, very meaningful, to reset Ghana. It’s going to be hard work but you and I know that by the grace of God, we will get there.”
“To vote for the NDC is to put your trust in the statement that Ghana can get better,” Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang concluded.
