Bawumia is a driver’s mate of the driver who crashed the Ghana vehicle-Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama has stated categorically that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, is a driver’s mate who learned from the driver who wrecked the “Ghana vehicle.

Mr Mahama suggested that such leadership cannot be trusted to guide the country in the right direction.

He argued that Vice President Bawumia is a product of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, whom he described as the driver responsible for the crash.

Speaking at the launch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) 2024 manifesto in Winneba on Saturday, August 24, 2024, Mahama remarked that President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia have been “prominent actors in the horror movie” that Ghanaians have endured for almost eight years.

In the first part of his address, Mr Mahama condemned the widespread corruption within the ruling NPP under the watch Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr Mahamadu Bawumia.

He warned that Ghana’s future cannot withstand “one additional day beyond January 7, 2025,” under the maladministration, mismanagement, and state capture experienced over the past eight years.

“Our dear nation Ghana is bleeding. Ghana’s soul is calling for change. Mother Ghana is crying out for its true and genuine patriotic citizens to rise up and reset our beloved nation,” Mahama declared.

He expressed that Ghanaians can no longer bear the hardship, impunity, state capture, hypocrisy, lies, and poor governance inflicted on them by the outgoing administration.

Mr Mahama criticized the current inflation rate, noting that it had exceeded 50 percent at one point and is now hovering above 20 percent.

He chastised Dr. Bawumia for seeking to take the nation’s steering wheel after contributing to the crash.

“Our nation, democracy, governance, and attitude need a reset,” Mahama asserted, emphasizing the need for leadership that will “crack the whip” when its appointees go astray. He called for a “responsive government” that respects the rights of all citizens, regardless of tribe or religion, and upholds the freedom of the press.

Mr Mahama proclaimed, “For the sake of God’s children and in the name of God, the people of Ghana will wake up from this nightmare and envision a bright new dawn of opportunities for all its people, not just a few.”
