It has come to our notice that a group calling itself the “Ahotor Project Team” is moving round some constituencies purporting to be distributing some “Ahotor” items to Constituency Executives in the Ashanti Region without recourse/express approval of the Ashanti Regional Executive Committee.
In principle,the Ashanti Regional Executive Committee is not against the provision of any form of logistical support to the party at any level.However, doing so without channelling same through the appropriate party structures smack of a certain ulterior motive other than a genuine intention to support the party at the grassroot level.
For the records,any senior party functionary who has sought to offer any logistical support to the party in the Ashanti Region has done so using the appropriate party structures.
For instance,when President Mahama wanted to distribute 47 Mahindra pick ups to all 47 constituencies in the Ashanti Region in 2012 and 2016,he resorted to the party structures.
Again,prior to the 2020 Elections,President Mahama distributed motorbikes to Organizers and Youth Organizers of all the 47 Constituencies in the Ashanti Region through the appropriate party structures.
It is therefore unfortunate that a senior party functionary who is nursing the ambition to lead the party some day will disregard or undermine the structures of the very party that he seeks to lead.
We are,by this release,serving notice to the the entire NDC fraternity in the Ashanti Region that the movement of the “Ahotor Project Team” is not sanctioned by the Ashanti Regional Executive Committee and urge constituency executives to re direct any such group that call to seek audience with them to the Regional Executive Committee.
