OFFICIAL: Asiedu Nketia wins NDC Chairmanship Race

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has won the NDC chairmanship position in his first run for the office after taking a bow as the General Secretary.
He toppled the incumbent chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo in a high-stakes election that saw
four candidates vying for the slot.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah popularly known as General Mosquito won decisively by 5,574 representing 65.17 percent, while his closest contender, Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo who failed to retain his position in that contest obtained 2,892 votes representing 33.81 percent of the total valid votes cast.

The rest including Nii Armah Ashietey and Samuel Yaw Adusei manged  38 and 52 votes respectively.

General Mosquito bowed out as the NDC’s General Secretary after serving in that position for almost two decades.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah will now take control of the largest opposition NDC as National Chairman ahead of the 2024 general election.

At least 9,000 delegates were deployed by the party to the Accra Sports Stadium from various constituencies to partake in the congress.

Sixty-three candidates vied for various national positions within the NDC.
