Reality check: Hopeson Adorye spoke the NPP truth – Retired Military Officer

An Ex-military Officer of the Ghana Army and an NDC sympathizer Captain John Kwame Jabari (rtd), says he is not surprised at the ethnocentric comment by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart Hopeson Adorye who doubles as Director of Operations for the Alan John Kwadwo Kyeremanteng campaign.

For him, the NPP man only spoke the truth about the party and how discriminatory they are of other tribes regards top leadership positions.

Mr. Adorye has come under a barrage of criticism for his comments over the weekend, stating that the flagbereship position of the NPP is a reserve of Akans but not northerners.

In a damning verdict on Northerners, Adorye ridiculed their status in the NPP, saying Dombos are always in the mix and fit as running mates to either a Dankwa candidate or a Busia candidate, so that tradition must continue.

Part of his statement read as follows

“The NPP has a tradition. Our tradition is Busia, Danquah and Dombo. Danquah represents Eastern Region and the bottom (south), Danquah represents Ashanti Region and the Bono areas, while Dombo represents Northern Region”

He continued: “whenever a Dankwa leads the party, the Busia side steps aside but there is a Dombo (for a running mate), and whenever a Busia leads, the Dankwa side steps aside but there is a Dombo (for a running mate). As for the Dombos, they are always there (for running mates).”
Captain Jabari said he was not surprised as the NPP since its inception has been divisive towards some tribes in the county, and out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth spoke.

‘‘When you study the NPP, what Hopeson Adorye said is ordained in the party, is enshrined in the party’s tradition, so I don’t see what is different’’

‘‘I am also not surprised that 24 hours later there is no official statement from the party when this was said right under the noses of National Executives. This is something the party endorses. See what they did to Aliu Mahama, he was not allowed to lead the party’’

‘‘What has Adorye said wrong? The Bawumia cap is just trying to twist the story that what he said is a sacrilege. My only problem is that this political party, the mandate given to them, they have no time to govern but thinking about breaking the 8’’ he noted.

He said the government of the day is confused and is currently majoring in minors.

‘‘Currently, Ghana does not have an economy, we cannot even say there is an economy that we are managing, this government has paraded itself with church services, walks for just one election they came out off’’
