The National Democratic Congress (NDC) will conduct its internal elections after completing the issuance of electronic identification cards to its members as part of measures to digitise the party’s membership records.
It has directed its members to replace their old ID cards by May 15, 2022 to pave way for the registration of new members ahead of the internal elections.
According to the General Secretary of NDC , some constituency chairman gave out ID cards with stamp at the back of the cards which has been resolved by NEC . General accepted the fact that this chairman’s where not punished due to some few reasons
General Secretary of the NDC , Hon.Johnson Aseidu Nketiah explained to the public about the necessity for every NDC member to be registered and have his or her new card .
He explained that “the new cards will be the only recognised identification card for the party’s internal elections since the digitisation processes will help the party to track and strengthen its management systems at all levels and help to strategise for future elections.
“Previously we had manual registers that were kept only at the branches and do not interconnect and communicate with other areas, which makes it difficult in preparing strategies because when you need information you have to struggle and with the current system we have developed is convenient.
“You can know what is happening in every polling station, constituency at the same time which makes the work more efficient and effective, the party is confident by fixing its management systems and the challenges identified in the 2020 election . We have setup a team to monitor this registration for instance Techiman due to certain issues at hand .
According to him, the old ID card was obsolete now, so all members should make the effort to get the new cards .
