The Finance Minister, Hon. Ken Ofori Atta has stated that, government have abolished road tolls on our public roads and bridges.
The rationale behind the move by the Finance was that, the road tolls since it’s implementation is not living up to to task created for.
He revealed that, government is not earning money from the tolls to maintaining and developing the roads and bridges hence it’s abolishment to find other ways.
He disclosed that government have laid down other routes to generate enough funds to work on our roads adding that, the personnels collecting the tolls on the roads and bridges will not be ignored by the government but government will absorb their services in different areas.
Given a timeline on the abolishment of the tolls, the Finance Minister said it takes effect as soon as the budgted is approved by parliament.
“Immediately after parliament approves the 2022 budget, all road tolls on public roads and bridges seized it’s Operation”, Mr. Ofori Atta stressed.
He made this known in parliament on Wednesday 17, 2021 when he presented the 2022 Budget Statement.
